Car Seats

Collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health and their Buckeye Buckles Program allows our department to provide free car seats to county residents who are either participants in the Madison County W.I.C. (Women, Infant and Children) Program or those that meet W.I.C. income guidelines.
Eligibility for receiving a free car seat is based on two factors. The first factor being income eligibility, see the chart to the left to see if you meet the income eligibility. The second factor requires each individual to participate in a one on one educational presentation with a Child Passenger Safety Technician. For more information or to have your car seat checked for proper fit and installation call 740-852-3065 ext 1534.

Ohio's Child Passenger Safety Law Has Changed!
Effective October 7, 2009, every child younger than 8 years of age, unless they are at least 4 feet 9 inches tall, must ride in a booster seat or other appropriate child safety seat, and every child 8 to 15 years of age who is not secured in a car seat must be secured in the vehicle's seat belt. This new law will help Ohio take a significant step toward ensuring young motor vehicle passengers are safe on our roads. Law enforcement began issuing warnings beginning October 7, 2009. Full enforcement began April 7, 2010, with fines ranging from $25 to $75 per violation.
